As New York swelters in Texas-like summer heat, activity on the performance front continues...
On Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, Brian Shapiro is conducting a performance workshop at the HERE Arts Center, in conjunction with HERE's Living Room Series. The workshop, "Body, Voice, and Motion", is designed to locate those places where the performance body and the performance voice merge, spawning a new area for creative insights and discoveries. By engaging in exercise that work with our own capacities to produced sound inspired movement, we work with a more organic form of statement. This workshop is a bargain at $10 for 2 hours. On Oct. 19, 2001 at 9:30pm, Brian Shapiro will be performing at MAKOR, New York's newest center for culture. This evening performance of storytelling has all the creativity and humor that Brian is known for. MAKOR is located in the upper-west side, 35 W 67th St. Central Park West and Columbus. The beauty project, a collaboration between 7 performers, has started, and in-process showings of "The Manifestation of Beauty-8.46 HALF DAY +Tax" will take place over the next couple of months, with a complete showing in early November. More info as it becomes available.
