FREE Yoga/Writing Workshops Begin April 6 in San Francisco
Brian Shapiro? CultureWorks, a San Francisco-based Performance Art Collaborative, is pleased to announce a 6-week series of FUN, FOCUSED, and FREE yoga/writing workshops specifically designed for the performer. This is an excellent opportunity to engage in a shared creative practice, build community, and foster ongoing artistic relationships. We facilitate an environment where the creative potential can be unleashed in a fairly organic manner. The workshops are led by Artistic Director Brian Shapiro, who has been writing for decades, practicing yoga regularly since 1993, Tai Chi religiously since 1994, and performing across the country since 1995.
Each workshop begins with a 30 minute yoga session to enliven the senses and open the doors to creative pathways. After yoga, one hour's worth of writing exercises maximize the momentum gained through the yoga. At the workshop's conclusion, participants have the option to share their writings with other participants, but only if they feels like doing so. Each week will be slightly different from each other. These workshops are open to artists in ALL disciplines, and are especially helpful for those artists who perform their own work, or those seeking new ways to expand their creative repertoire.
Workshops take place for six consecutive Wednesdays, beginning on April 6, from 6:00pm-7:30pm, and will commence on May 11. Although the workshops are free, you do need to register in advance, as space is limited to 8-10 participants per session. Participants are encouraged to attend the entire 6 week session, but drop-ins are always welcome. Please bring your own yoga mat if you have one.
All workshops take place at 1360 Mission St, Suite 200. BART and Muni Metro are 2 blocks away.
